The mangold story

In 1970, Larry W. Mangold began working for the Swain Family Stone Company in San Antonio as Hurricane Cecilia wreaked havoc on Texas’ Coastal Bend. Mangold moved the family to Corpus Christi in the storm’s aftermath to help provide building materials for repairs. It was here Larry became immersed in general contracting and soon honed his craft to specialize in roofing and sheet metal work. The Mangold family returned home to San Antonio in 1972 to open Swain Mangold and Associates. Two years later, Mangold Roofing and Sheet Metal was incorporated.

The company’s first major job took Mangold Inc. to Killeen, Texas where his team was trusted with the roof installation for Fort Hood Military Base.

roofing

“We roofed 16,000 squares of roofing and this job launched Mangold Roofing into the respected roofing company it is today.”

In 1986, Larry’s son, Randy, graduated from UTSA and joined his father to grow the family business, where the two worked in tandem, pursuing opportunities to elevate Mangold Roofing’s growing reputation. Finally in 2016, after graduating college from Texas A&M University, Garrett Mangold joined his father and grandfather, bringing with him fresh eyes for the future of roofing. Three Mangold generations have allowed the company’s culture to stay true to its roots -- appreciation for past techniques, while easily adapting their methods with cutting-edge technology.
